I just chatted with someone at Bank of America about my Visa Signature account.I don't like how the Signature is reported without the CL to the bureaus.
I asked whether I could switch to a standard VISA without the signature part. The laconic answer in the chat was "No." Then I asked "Why?" The answer was: "You can always apply for a new card." At which point I thanked him for his time and said goodbye.
There is just no way to propel a logical argument with banks and expect a logical response. I have been reading Kafka's "The Castle," and I think had Kafka lived in this century, he would have found ample material for more books!
OMG.. I have tried BOA chat 3 times. Every single time I get similar results to you. I They farm out the chat probably to some 3rd world country.. I think they have "Peggy" IMing you. So much better to call. Don't bother with the chat. The 3rd time I actually saved the chat log and faxed it over to my local branch for follow up. It was a simple question about my checking account too. Just trying to find out if a check in my maiden name from an old overpayment could be deposited into an ATM or if they needed me to go to the branch. The guy kept contridicting his responses in my case too.
Recently I was elegible for upgrade on my BofA card to a Visa Signature. However, I didn't because of how they report the CL. I stuck with my original card because it report my balances. I'm glad I didn't upgrade.
We got a signature card from BOA for my wife. Like you we were disappointed it did not report the CL. We sent an on-line message and they answered back we would have to phone. There was no way I am going to waste my time speaking to them on the phone.
Anyway, I wrote a letter to BOA Delaware complaining about the card and they quickly changed it to one that reports a limit.
I think BOA is so big that the CSR often dont know whats going on in specific departments.
