Hello, I applied for the Chase Freedom card last week, Monday, 9/23, and got the dreaded 7 - 10 business day notice and I've sort of lost hope that I was approved. I did try the automated application status number many times since, but I don't think it's working properly. It just responds with "To repeat this information - - -" after I put in my SSN - completely skipping any information to be repeated.
I'm considering going to my local branch to speak with someone face-to-face to get an update on the status. Is there any real benefit in doing this rather than the Chase recon number? Or is it not worth my time instead of using the phone?

Getting 7-10 isn't neccesarily an denial, if you call in and talk to somebody at chase they may approve you. It could be that they just need more verification info.
