Hey guys! Question, I have a Citi AAdvantage card and they are offering a balance transfer promo to me right now. It also appears they are offering to send it to my bank account, rather than directly to another creditor. My question as I think about this, with the promo APR being 0.99%, can I balance transfer the amount of my current balance (It offers me more than my current balance currently), have it sent to my checking account, and then make a large payment on the card to knock out my current balance with them? I know under the CARD act (or something like that) that any extra principal payments are applied to the balance with the highest APR, but I am wondering if this is the case with the "Promo" APR on the BT. regular APR of 29% kicks in about a year and a half from now, so I am wondering if they will take into consideration the promo apr, or the BT apr when allocating the payment I make after the BT is taken. regular APR is around 25%, so wanting to try to get it knocked out if possible. Thanks!
