Citi CLI?

I have had a Citi Platinum Select Card for just under a year now, my current credit limit is $4,000.00.  over the last few months I have had an extremely high utilization (around 97%) just because of some unexpected expenses that came up I have always paid more than the minimum and finally have finished paying off the dental bills that came up, so now over the next few weeks using my bonus from work I will finally pay the card down to less than 40% utilization, and within the next 2 months it should easily be paid off completely.  I noticed the luv button showed up right at my 6 month mark, without even thinking I clicked it and was denied because of high balance on my card.   After I pay the card down to below 40% util, should I push the luv button again?  Should I wait a couple of statement periods or should I have a good chance not long after my payment posts?  Any thoughts?

If it were me I'd wait 3-6 months after eveything was paid off to try again for a CLI. Just let it all settle. IMO.

You can do the same thing with hard work.

Re: Citi CLI?

It seems to me that Citi likes to see usage, but paying in full. That's exactly what I've been doing and I just saw the LUV button appear on the website. Instantly gave me a $1500 cli to $5500 from $4000, and my 5th statement for the card cuts tomorrow.

Re: Citi CLI?

I had a $280 balance on my 4000 limit. My luv button showed after 3 months so i went for it and was approved for a $1500 increase.
