Citi Card Customer Service

Checked my credit report last night to see if my new Citi PremierPass and other new credit cards would show up.  When I got to PremierPass it did not show my credit limit, however it did show highest last balance.  After the fiasco with Capital One (finally cleaned up their act) not reporting credit limits, I had to get to the bottom of it.  I spoke with the first rep who told me that I had to speak to the credit bureaus to see why they are not reporting my credit limit.  I basically told him that it was up to the credit card company so forward me to a supervisor.  I was transferred to another CSR and she wasn't sure how they reported but she did tell me that the PremierPass does not have a credit limit (although mine is $8,500).  She stated she was in the collections department but she would transfer me to a manager in CS.  I spoke to a manager and she confirmed that the PremierPass and PremierPass Elite, as well as the Hilton Honors does not have a set limit and it does not report a credit limit to the credit bureau.  I told her that it was not good for my credit score so would it be possible to change to another card (since the account was only 45 days old).  She offered me the Citi Diamond Platinum Rewards Mastercard and transfered my PremierPass account to the new account.  I kept my credit limit of $8,500, however my interest rate went from 9.99 to 12.99, no problem since I rarely carry balances on my credit card.  The manager was very helpful, said I should receive my card in the next 7-10 business days and that I can still use the PremierPass card for the next 30 days or until I activate the new card.  I checked my account this morning, it already shows the new card number (last four digits), along with the new card and the credit limit.

By far, Citi Card offers the best CS in the business.  The other credit card companies need to step up their game.

Re: Citi Card Customer Service

Most people report that Citi is pretty good about product changes, though many other prime banks like BoA and Amex are as well. I am glad you got what you wanted out of them. It never hurts to ask! It is also a reminder to check to see if the limit will report. It is funny how these no pre-set spending limit cards sound good on tv commercials but in reality they are bad for you if you are FICO savvy.

Re: Citi Card Customer Service

Hello,

I agree Citi is wonderful to deal with. When your new card arrives instead of calling the auto activation number on the card; call the customer service number. Customer service can lower the APR and activate the card in one 3 min call. It worked for me! The only way it does not (right away) is if you have a 12-15 mo 0% apr. If this is the case, call back 1-2 months before the intro rate expires.

Re: Citi Card Customer Service

Thanks, I will definitely call CS upon activiation to try to lower the interest.  I only have 0% for 12 months on balance transfers.  It's at least worth a shot.
