Citi Card Reopen Application Process/Experience?

Thanks for visiting!

I've had my Citi Forward card for 2 years, it was my VERY first card, but after a year of having my card and never missing a payment to either Citi or any other lender, Citi considered my "High Risk" so they closed my account and I was eligble to reopen my account within a year of fixing what was negative on my credit report (they were evil inquiries!).

After a year, it's time to reopen my account and I have only 6 INQs this year (Back in Feb. 2011), my UTI is at 15%-25%. No missed payments and for the first time when I called the Citi Reopening Department (888-258-1166), the representative said, "Everything looks good on my end, I reviewed all the notes and now I'm going to forward it to my supervisor for a final look, and we will get a decision within 2 business days."

I've been living on the edge for a year now trying to get on Citi's good side, has anyone gone through this process? This is the first time a representative has forwarded my application to a supervisor and I am HOPING they finally reopen my account, I would hate for it to go to waste!

Thanks again!

From this day forward (ironically), I will no longer do business with Citibank.

For over a year, Citi's representatives lied to me and said to focus on bringing down my utilization rate, and now it's standing at about 15% and I have 6 INQs (Back in Feb., 2 were from Citi themselves and 1 was from a dealership when I totaled my last car).

Now I spoke with the main supervisor, Sarah Cooper, and she denied my request for having the account reopened because of INQs on my credit report when this whole time I was told to focus on my utilization rate. No baddies whatsoever on my report, I've never missed one payment with Citi or any other lender, and now, after living on the edge for over a year, I was denied once again the opportunity to do business with them.

I've come to the conclusion that I will never do business with them again, I am even planning to sell the stocks I had invested in Citi.

Give up on the "too big to fail" banks.  Build a relationship with a Credit Union.

Haha, no kidding! I just might have too, would any credit union do? I mean, should I stay local or are there any national ones anyone can recommend? I don't plan on applying for anything for at least another 8 months, but just to be prepared? Thanks again!

Re: Citi Card Reopen Application Process/Experience?

I was able to join Navy Federal (father is retired Navy) and First Tech through employer affiliation.  There are other CUs discussed here.  Some that come to mind are Alliant, Apple (Northern VA), PSECU (Pennsylvania).  Also Pentagon Federal, but also requires military or contractor affiliation.

But the other ting is, local CUs are the closest we have to old fashioned local banks.  Start now, research, open an account with one, to build for an application in 8 months.
