Citi Custom Cash spend question

I'm still new to the Citi Custom Cash card. So for example I spent $23.28 on only groceries for the last half of this month since that's when I first got the card but if I spend like $50 on something that doesn't fit into one of the categories on the card before the month is over would I still get the 5% on the $23.28 or 5% on the $50?

Re: Citi Custom Cash spend question

You would receive five percent on the grocery spend. On non  5 percent catsgory spending is 1 percent.

5% on the top spend category ($23.28) that qualifies and all other non category spend ($50) is %1.

I have x2 custom cash cards and dedicate 1 to groceries and the other to Dining. Makes for an easy $25 + $25 = $50 cb per month x 12 = $600 cb per year total.

I use other cards for different categories to maximize my cashback strategy.

Note: While you can only apply for 1 custom cash card, you can product change other citi cards to a 2nd Custom Cash card.

Re: Citi Custom Cash spend question

@IcyCool7227

Whichever eligible category ends up being your top spend by the end of the billing cycle (not end of the month), that is what you'll get 5x on. The app shows your current "Front Runner" category (your top spend ctegory).

Whatever you spend on Restaurants, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Select Travel, Select Transit, Select Streaming Services, Drugstores, Home Improvement Stores, Fitness Clubs, and Live Entertainment, will result in potentially being a "Front Runner". Anything outside of those will be 1x and not affect which category will be getting 5x.

If you switch from one eleigible spending category to another mid-billing cycle, and the new category overtakes the first, then that will become your new single 5x category.
