Citi Custom Cash vs Double Cash Prequal / Underwriting / PC?

I noticed the Citi Double Cash has a pre-qual (I never use the term pre-approval since that's not a guarantee) but I don't see a pre-qual on the Custom Cash.  There's reports on credit card sites that the Double Cash is easier to get than a lot of other reward cards.  I hate to burn a HP.  I'm wondering if people have a feel for how different the approval odds are between the cards.  If they are fairly close it would seem to me if the Double Cash pre-qual is approved then you would most likely be able to get the Custom Cash?  Or are the underwriting requirements pretty different.  I like the extra 3 months BT on the DC but I really have no use for that card other than the BT.

I guess maybe the optimal choice would be to apply for DC and then when the 0$% APY period expires ask for a PC to the Custom?

At Citi, Premier and Costco are the most difficult cards to get approved. Besides the prequal website, you may use your own judgement on your approval chance for any other card.

Citi is a bit weird bank to get approved for any CC. They were asking me to have zero HP in the past 6 months, prior applying for any card. I followed their illogical request and finally could get my last 2 credit cards from them.

Pick your poison.  I got the double cash and immediatly after the SUB hit, PC'ed it to a (2nd) Custom Cash.
