Citi Diamond Preferred Card

How actually good is this card if I want to move balances to help pay off some credit card debt and make it easier? Are there better options of cards for someone like me?

Right now it's offering: 0% Intro APR for 21 months on BT and 12 months on purchases then it's 27.74% and there is also a 5% BT fee.

Here is my situation. I am currently have a 643 Score and balance of $3,783.99 on Chase Freedom Unlimited card, $5900 on Discover It, and $0 with Citi Reward for a total Credit Limit of $9,160/ $15,000. so like 61% Utilization. If I keep paying a little more than the minimum payment in 3 years I would've paid an extra $5,716 with Chase and $7448 with Discover.  I don't really plan to keep utilizing my cards much in the coming months.

Re: Citi Diamond Preferred Card

Do you have a pre-approval through Citi? If not, it might be difficult to get.

Re: Citi Diamond Preferred Card

I do not have a pre-approval but I do have a pre-selection which is how I learned of the card.

I wouldn't put much stock in pre selection, they cast a much wider net than what they'll actually approve for those.

I'd work on what it takes to get pass 700. That opens many more doors. You'd be surprised. Get your util %'s down and that works wonders. Your well above desired util %'s. try to get below 28% min. Then under 6%. My saying is. Keep appyling in the 600's and you'll stay in the 600's. And with util %'s that high. Probably wont cut it for an approval. No apps until those balances come down to acceptable levels. Good Luck!

Re: Citi Diamond Preferred Card

Just a thought, apply for a personal loan and if approved pay off your credit card debts with it. Your credit score score should go up quite a bit.

Then  apply for the 21 months of zero interest card and pay off the personal loan immediately if approved for the card or cards. You will have 0 percent utilization on cards which will give you a decent shot.

if successful you will save on interest. If not the interest on the loan is probably lower then the cards and you can always pay off earlier than the terms you receive. As I say just a thought.

Re: Citi Diamond Preferred Card

I was with you until you said "Then apply for the 21 months of zero interest card and pay off the personal loan immediately if approved for the card or cards". If I pay off the cards with the loan then I really have no need for that specific card. You wheeled me back in again with "if successful you will save on interest. If not the interest on the loan is probably lower than the cards and you can always pay off earlier than the terms you receive". Tbh, yeah, the interest of the loan would probally be way less than $13,164 worth of total intrest on the cards and be equal to or less than the payments i'd have to make every month on both the cards.
