Citi Forward for College Student Recon...Should I?

Hi Everyone,

First off, I am new to this forum! I recently became obsessed with building my credit. I think I am addicted.

So, starting a few weeks ago, after being approved for a Southwest Airlines Visa Signature Card for $5,000, I went on an app spree.

I think I overdid it!

I applied for a Citi HHonors Visa Gold card and was approved for $3,000 a couple of weeks ago. I was also approved for a Capital One Credit card for $500 with a guaranteed increase offer to $750 in two months (based on on time payments).

However, I want to get rid of that Cap1 and get the Citi Forward instead. I applied for it a few days ago and was denied. The only reason being I already applied for another card with them. They do not allow multiple apps in such a short time frame. However, I don't want to reapply in the future. I am trying to get all my credit inquiries in at the same time, so they fall off my report at the same time. So, I really want this card now.

Should I do a recon letter?  If I am approved for the Citi Forward for College Students, I will drop the cap1.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I am pretty sure Citi will stick to that reason. Does you Cap 1 card have AF? If not just keep it open and use it every couple months after you get that $250 CLI.

Oh ok! Thank you. I'll guess I'll keep it because it does not have an AF.

Hi there.

The acronyms used here can be very confusing at first. Here is a list of Abbreviations.

Keep the capital one. I mean the pull shows up on your credit report so might as well keep it right? Sounds like you did well on your app spree Smiley Happy

Barclaycard Apple Financing (2100), Discover More (2500), US Bank Visa Platinum (2000), CFNA (2200), Chase Freedom (500), Capital One (1500), HSBC Platinum Master Card (750), Nebraska Furniture Mart (1000)

I think you should be happy with the way things are right now and leave it all alone. If the capital one has a fee, then close it out before the next fee comes around next year. Unless you have a need for more credit right now, just give it a year and let things age. Your scores will be higher and you will be able to break your "ADDICTION". That word applies to a lot of people that start getting approvals and then cant ever leave well enough alone, often ending up with scores in the 600's seemingly forever. Of course it is just my opinion. Apply for whatever you want, but remember there will always be another just have to have card that comes out or one better rewards bonus or or or

Yes, I am going to keep the Cap. I got rid of the Orchard Bank one for $300 with an AF of $59.00.

The app spree went really well. 5 new cards, three of them with high limits! I am just waiting on a U.S. Bank app which might be declined due to the now numerous inquiries. I am definitely going to garden, as you guys say, for at least two years. I want all the inquiries off my account. Plus, I have a collection that is due to fall off my report in Sept. 2013. So, I will most definitely not do anymore apps until after that date!
