So, some of you may have read in anothe thread that all of my Citi cards, both core and retail cards were closed across the board for "Too Many Recently Opened Accounts". I appealed to the Executive Response Unit, but having seen the Citi shutdown horror stories, I didn't have much hope.
After the card was closed, I cashed out my 120K Thank You points since I didn't want to lose them.
Well, fast forward to today and I get an e-mail response after about 2 weeks saying "You recently reached out to us, and we’ve reviewed your request.
We certainly regret any inconvenience or difficulty you may have experienced with our decision to close your
above-referenced account. We reopened your Citi Prestige® account."
I'm back in! I'm not gonna poke the bear and ask about the closed retail cards, and I'm gonna keep any Citi applications at bay for a looooong time.
Small win, but I get to keep a 12 year card open and especially a card that's discontinued. Sucks to have drained all those TY points, but I'll build it back up.
That's pretty remarkable being most lenders won't reopen a closed card, congratulations!
