Citi is not making the best impression...

Was approved for a DoubleCash card last Friday (6 days ago now) with the message that I'd have my card within a week. I'm traveling later this week, so I called on Monday to have the card expedited, and was told to call back on Wednesday as the account hadn't been created yet. I called back on Wednesday and was told the card would be expedited and I'd have it by Thursday.

I called back this morning to check on the tracking number, and was told that the card hadn't been shipped and the account had just been created yesterday so it would still be another 5 to 7 days until I received the card. This CSR told me that they cannot expedite new cards for "security reasons." Not sure how that would even be an issue, as other card issuers do it all the time.

Anyone else have an experience like this? Looks like it's going to be closer to two weeks or more until I receive the card.

Recently, I had app'ed for a Citi Premier.  Though I am a current Citi banking and CC customer, they refused to expedite the card and insisted on regular post, which had taken about 3 1/2 weeks.

*Edited*  PS - I was told this was because of a processing issue with the cards.

Re: Citi is not making the best impression...

Sorry OP. I have never had a problem with receiving my credit cards from Citibank within a timely manner. I know they have been experiencing some system issues. On Monday my available credit was wrong for my Simplicity credit card. I hope you get your card before you leave. Best of luck!!!

I think my DC took less than a week to arrive. Sorry for your experience, OP.

I have heard the same thing. When you log into your account, there is a message about a card being mailed.

Re: Citi is not making the best impression...

Diamond card was approved on the 5th, didnt ship until the 14th, arrived on the 21st. Longest Ive ever had to wait for a card. When using the regular contact number didnt get much assistance but when I called the number on my welcome letter it was 10x better. Rep was able to look up when the card shipped and offered to extend my 0% for an extra 20 days bc of the inconvenience.

Sorry things arent starting off well OP but you may be waiting for another week or so. Smiley Sad Hopefully not. GL

Re: Citi is not making the best impression...

My sister applied for Freedom and Double Cash on the same day. Her Freedom arrived 3 days after approval. The Double Cash arrived 3 weeks after the Freedom. Citi also gave her a significantly lower limit than Chase. She is less than thrilled so far, but putting far more spend on the Double Cash for obvious reasons. While I think Citi has some great products, I feel like someone should remind their consumer credit division where they rank in comparison to Chase and AmEx.

Re: Citi is not making the best impression...

Citi is certainly not the best when it comes to new accounts. A quick search of the words "citi doublecash" here on myfico could've given you that idea. When the doublecash was first released, many of us applied for it and waited quite a long time to get it. It's just the way it is.

As far as citi not expediting cards, they just don't. Some are shipped via expedited shipping methods, but they will still take a week to ship your card. It's just the way citi is. lol. I love their products, but the whole operation needs an overhaul. Chase and Amex do card shipping the best (in my experience). Closely followed by discover who ships all their cards expedited, and cap1 who will expedite if you ask nicely. Barclay's will expedite, but you will have to fight with the CSR to get the $15 fee taken off, and citi is just terrible. Smiley Tongue

It's taking forever for mine to come also.  I have counted the days because it always feels like it takes forever to me.

There is an entire thread full of posts about this for people who had to wait for their premier card. Citi was updating a system or something so it created a backlog. I never had the problem with citi before, so once the backlog is cleared out I do not think it will be a problem in the future.
