Unless it has been changed again my understanding is with citibank AA cards each card has its own bonus clock and you can get the bonus as long as you don't have the card and have not opened or closed the card product in the past 48 months. My situation is this: I obtained the citibank AA executive card over six years ago. A little over five years ago I downgraded the card to an AA platnium card. The card number stayed the same. This was more than 48 months ago. I kept that AA platnium card for another two years or so and then ended up closing it three years ago. I would assume I can't get the bonus on the platnium elite card. The question is would I be able to get it on the AA executive card? Its mostly academic until a larger signup bonus shows up for the card but I am just trying to figure out if I am eligible for it.

Link? I've not seen 48 month opened-or-closed language before. It tends to be either "No SUB received on this card in the last 48 months" or "No opened or closed cards of this type in the last 24 months".
That is, someone who got the card 5 years ago and closed it 3 years ago would be eligible under those circumstances.

So under that theory then I should be able to get the SUB on both cards, since I got the bonus on the exec card more than 48 months ago and I didn't get the bonus on the AA plat card because it was a PC. Just looked at the terms it said had not receieved bonus in past 48 months.
