Closed AMEX BCP

I just closed my AMEX BCP as I was getting tired of being inconvenienced every time I wanted to redeem any rewards. First, by having rewards delayed by an entire month, sometimes even longer. Having to redeem in $25 increments, then having to input my last 4-digits, e-mail address and phone number, just to get a statement credit for an account I'm already logged into.

I won't even go into how their customer service has declined over the years. I'm glad to be free of AMEX at this point, I don't see how anyone can stand them anymore.

I've never had to input that info for a statement credit.

I definitely think it's a pain in the butt to redeem on Amex's website and have had to input the information, as well.

I did. They treat a statement credit like purchasing a product and drive you through the world's longest and most convoluted shoppiing cart checkout. It is a bit ridiculous.

Re: Closed AMEX BCP

It is a bit inconvenient. SimplyCash is different. Cash back is automatically issued as a statement credit every month with no $25 redemption required. Not sure why they dont make it this simple for all cash back cards 😑

Re: Closed AMEX BCP

Hopefully this is not a bad sign of things to come with my new Amex account that is only 2 months old. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED any rewards and the second statement has cut already. I should have received 10,000 for the initial bonus please 4,563 for what I have spent. Every time I call it says "14,563 pending points after payments post".  I am like dude ALL payments have posted for weeks.

Most companies you get right away or right after a statement cut. It makes me nervous and when I called and spoke to a supervisor they have no CLUE. She was like well sir those are a lot of points. I'm like **bleep**??

Re: Closed AMEX BCP

I haven't really had any issues with it, although I only collect the rewards on Amex every six months to a year, so maybe it just isn't that much of a bother.

You're fine. It typically takes 2 statements to get the rewards but could be longer but rarely. I have an ED and BCE and 99% of the time i get them after the 2nd statement cuts but once I got them around 2 and a half months.

As far as the OP  goes I wouldn't necessarly Close any Amex card down specially if you shop at Costco because until next year you'll need one to use credit at Costco stores but they do take any on their website and you don't even need a membership to shop there though I think there might be a fee. I also find their customer service still one of the best along with Chase's CSP customer service .

Re: Closed AMEX BCP

BCP used to be my daily driver until I switched to my Surpass in May 2014. Back then, I used to get rewards calculated every statement, minus pending charges with no delay at all on BCP. It is still that way with my Surpass.

When did it change? Smiley Sad

Re: Closed AMEX BCP

At least you can redeem your rewards monthly, I can only redeem mine once a year (Costco). After being in the credit card game and learning, I don't understand the allure with Amex.
