Closed Account Question

Looking to apply for new credit.   5 years ago I had a Chase card closed for past due balance.  I paid off the entire balance 4 years ago.   Does that pretty much make me inelligible to apply again for a Chase card today?

What about when it falls off my credit report?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Closed Account Question

Welcome to the forum! Since it was eventually paid its not a deal breaker. However, Chase has a long memory and they might weigh the past late against you even if its off your cr. if everything else is pristine you might have a shot

What cc? Any baddies?

Re: Closed Account Question

Thanks.  My last negative mark was 4 years ago.  I wonder since I have a banking relationship with WF that should just apply with them.  Based on my score, do you suggest any other cards?

What kind of cc are you looking for? Travel, cash back, etc?

Re: Closed Account Question

Either.   Current have 2 open Capital One's with a total of a $1700 CL.    Basically have tried in the past to get limit increases but they have replied that the card is not eligible.  I have seen the threads on the executive office and will try that route as well, but basically Im looking for an alternative to capital one and a reward card would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Much appreciated.

Re: Closed Account Question

Definitely email the EO for a CLI. Do you do a lot in grocery shopping, gas, Amazon purchases?
