Closing Amex Gold

Hi,

How does closing Amex Gold Rewards affect my credit history/score?

Thanks

Re: Closing Amex Gold

It won't.  A closed card will stay in your file for 10 years.  And since the Amex Gold card is a charge card, it won't affect your utilization.

Starting Scores:

1/28/14:
2/12/14:
Current Scores:
7/10/19:

Welcome to MyFico...  There is a lot that goes into FICO scoring.  So this will have minimal impact and will still report for 10 years.

How long have you has the card?     Amex no longer back dates... id keep it open.... or PC to another charge... call and ask for a free year or reduced rate... can't hurt

Does AMEX not allow the OP to PC from a charge to a revolver? Smiley Surprised

No charge to charge

Revolver to relvover

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

In that case, I would never want their charge. I don't blame the OP for wanting to close.

Re: Closing Amex Gold

On the contrary they have there perks that revolvers don't

Features

NPSL

Lounge privileges

Better point system and redemption

No FTF in some cases

Airline credit

etc etc

Just depends on what you spend on and the features that best suit you
