I also called Capital One yesterday asking about closing my secured card. When my statement cut last month I had a 0 balance but was charged $3.00 in interest. I paid that the day my statement cut but I called them yesterday and asked if there was a chance I would be charged interest again when my statement cuts this month on 3/11 because I wanted to close it out this month since my AF was due next month in April. She was very very nice. (She was in Tampa, FL) she totally understood why I wanted to close it and even waived any interest pretty much guaranteeing me that no interest will be charged next month and I was free to close it out anytime i wanted. She even said it's not something they normally do but I originally called because I got a message online that one of my statements were sent back to them and my address hasn't changed since I became a cap one customer and never had that issue before. She checked all my accounts with them and all of my accounts had the same issue. She was puzzled as to why my statement was returned but told me she thought it was just a one time fluke and it shouldn't happen again. Thankfully I check all my account online everyday so missing a payment wouldn't of happened. It was actually the statement to my secured card that it happened to so I think that's why she offered to waive any interest for me so I can close it out asap but she was very nice and it was very easy. I haven't closed it out yet (the AF isn't due till 4/30) but because of how great Cap One has been to me I kinda feel bad to close it but I do have 2 other credit cards with them and a 360 checking so I think it's time. I just wish credit one could of been that easy.
