Closing J Crew and Express Credit Card?

Hello I am wondering if i close my J crew and Express Credit Card will it affect my annual age of credit or will it make it go up since those two accounts are closed?

They are my smallest credit lines that I dont use at all. Did the shopping cart trick for them.

Also will my credit score go down for closing these two small lines? I got over $25,000 in credit lines.

Your AAoA won't change as they will continue to report for 10 years. I don't think it will do much for your util as long as you don't carry large balances.

could try the CLI button for Jcrew and you might find it goes to $4k+ by just continueing to hit the button!

but otherwise no, AA will not change

two years ago  I closed walmart, gap, jcrew, v.s and express. All at once. It did not affect my AAOA. Hope that helps.

Credit addict is right. I followed his advice on another thread and cli'd j crew from 450 to 4450 in about 5 minutes, 200 bucks at a time.
is 4k some sort of internal limit - most they'll do at once? I could have saved a tree and a stamp by stopping after 4k if I knew. Half expected it to reach a million at the rate it was going.

Jcrew is such an awesome grower, I would hold on to that one for that very reason!

So my annual age of credit will stay the same even if i close the accounts because they will pop up on my credit report?

how to fix your annual age of credit? and what impact does it have on your credit score? At the moment it stands at about 4.5 yrs

this is one of the reasons why doing shopping cart trick can sometimes not be so good for your credit. You do get cards with only sp but the damage to your AAOA is irreversible. the damage to your AAOA for cards you will probably never use hurts.

You improve your AAoA by not getting any new credit. Closing cards doesn't affect AAoA. Like the above poster said, getting new credit irreversibly damages your AAoA.
