Hi guys,
In order to help my DW in creating a credit history (she had nothing reporting to the 3 main credit bureaus back in 2014) I added her as an AU to some of my credit cards (AMEX, CHASE, BARCLAYS and SYNCB), today she has BOFA (CL 5K I requested a CLI and was approved, 2.1k to 5k) and Capital One (CL 4.5K) credit cards, now she wants to apply for couple of CHASE credit cards but she can’t because the 5/24 rule (with AU CCs she is at 9/24), well I know that if you are an AU you can still get approved but she wants to avoid any recon process, she just does not want to get involved in any of that so the solution is removing her as AU so she can be at 2/24 with TU 3-inqs, EQ 1-inq and EX 1-inq all from 2016 and 1inq from BOFA from last week for the CLI (triple pull from Capital One and 2 from BOFA).
Anyways, doing some searching I found that the ones that are closed are really easy to removed (depending the lender), creating a dispute from the credit bureaus (AMEX is so far the tough one in that list) will do the trick but what I don’t know is how to close the AU cards that are open without affecting my cards, how should I proceed?, should I just call the lenders and request to close those AU cards? Or there is another way to do it?
As a note, I paid her credit cards in full every month (I have a designated survivor CC that report a small balance for both of us) our scores are around 750-770 across the all 3 bureaus, I am not expecting any hit on our score, the AAA is almost a year so I think we’ll be good but if happens she is ok with that.
CCs open – 3 (Closed and Removed)
CCs closed – 4 (Removed)
Thanks in advance for your help.

As the cards are yours you would request that the card issued to the AU be canceled and the reporting be removed from AUs CR. If anyone wont remove then she can dispute it with the CRAs as not responsible for repayment of the debt only an AU. Its a pretty simple process to get done.
DW removed me from 2 cards by chat or email.
After several months, the cards still reported to the bureaus.
Disputed the cards to all 3 bureaus.
All TL removed but one on EX. They say still valid. I'll try again.
