Closing, closing, closing, goneeeee

Called Amex yesterday and closed my plat charge.  Was very simple and was transferred to someone but I was able to have to say no only 2-3 times for the gold card, etc.

Next up is the Citi Prestige.  I will attempt to PC this to either the Diamond or DC.  I hesitate on the DC because I already have the Amex BCP.  I don't really have any interest in other Citi cards at all but that is a $27K CL I would not like to go away. <-- Any good ideas here?

After these at some point this summer I will transfer the CL from my CSR over to my Marriott card and close the CSR.  The AF on these cards are ridiculous and time for them to go for good.  I know I have a much smaller AF on the Marriott card but that is fine.

What's your total CL and Util like? Seems like possibly nuking $27,000 of it would end up as a negative depending on your scenario. As a Citi Diamond holder, I'd way more appreciate a DC.

I don’t know how you could even what or get/apply for and get some of those more prestigious credit cards, especially if your not using the all benefits, and or don’t have the income to where it doesn’t matter....

You could ask for the Dividend card...it occasionally has decent 5% cash back quarters.

Re: Closing, closing, closing, goneeeee

Keep in mind that it's generally very easy to get a retention offer on Prestige. Probably not a great one, but maybe enough to make the AF less of a concern.

My travels have lately involved a few Cent and SkyClub lounges, but I know Platinum is not for everyone. Best to drop what doesn't earn it's keep.

There are zero income issues.  I'm just taking in my mind a practical approach and don't consider $450 year worth it to just carry a plat charge card. Same applies to the others.  I don't travel like I once did (by choice).
