Opinion's on this will vary, some like "Closed by consumer" on their report,

rather than "Closed by Credit Grantor"

Re: Closing some cards

I like to make gradual changes, spacing out new cards and closures. Maybe close one or two cards now and see how you feel in a few weeks.

I've seen quite a few plans for radical and sudden simplification (by MF standards, that is) fall apart or lead to app sprees.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: Closing some cards

I'm planning to close the cards gradually. Probably two or three every month.

The reason I'm closing them is that I'm going to another country soon, so I won't need cards with FTF.

Re: Closing some cards

Go for it.  I prefer less cards and less hassle.  I only have one credit card which is like the opposite of most people on this site.  In my opinion, there is no point in having something if you don't ever use it.
