While I agree it is obnoxious, it's par for the course with a startup. You take the good (2% cash back, financing) with the bad (immature company with limited self service options).
Maybe things will improve down the road, or maybe not. Either way, most service requests are only something you're going to need to do very occasionally anyway.
That said, OP's situation seems ridiculous, and I'd close the card and not look back. Why SD it and keep it open? No point.
I agree in general but I think in this case there may be an arguement for just SDing. If the problems are related to being an immature company, then these can improve. So in a year we can be reading how the card offers CLIs (not an interest of mine, but obviously for others), state of the art website or whatever, and then the OP can reap the benefits.
Just that we can expect a new company with some good ideas to improve in other spheres, quicker than some of the megabanks.
I'm always a fan of the SD on cards for a while before actually closing them. It allows you to let any emotions you may have toward wanting to close the card sort of mellow out and you can make sure you are making the right decision. Also, a year down the road you may desire that card again and rather than go through another application, take the inquiry etc. it would be nice to just grab it out of the SD. If you SD it and it goes unused for a year or so then yeah, I'd say closing it is the "right" decision.
