Good points, thanks for getting my mind out of the emotional part and back to the part that knows Fico scores are just math and emotion has no place in a math problem.
My youngest right now won't hit a year until next September if I don't open anything new. I'm thinking now I should just sit on this crappy card and use it occasionally until my reports get clean then look at replacing. I'm in this game for the long haul to get my scores up to where I get the best rates and cards. Waiting until next year to add another prime is probably the best move for the long-term health of my profile. I should be well into the 750's on all of them by then which should help with not only approval but what bucket I get put into.
Definitely wait until your reports are clean. If you feel you want to ice the cake by letting your youngest card become a year old, go ahead. But I don't think that'll be necessary.
