Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

Hey everyone,
For most of my daily purchases, I've been using my CSP and Flexperks Travel Rewards cards. For the rest of my cards, I usually just let them sit in the sock drawer and pay for my Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime/Scorewatch/gym Cellphone bills with them, which are small, manageable PIF amounts.

However, I'm wondering if my Signature cards will serve my intended purpose of increasing my credit score. I've read on many threads and sites that Signature cards may not help build credit.

In that case, should I drawer my CSP/Flexperks Rewards signatures for a bit and use my Freedom/Amex more? Or will I be fine to use my two Signature cards as I always have?

All help is appreciated
Thanks

Re: Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

If they don't report credit limit the signature doesn't help. US Bank signature cards do report CL so it will help you.

Discover IT $17k / US Bank Ace (VSig) $13.5K / US Bank Cash+ (VSig) $13.5k
Sam's Mastercard $15k / Walmart Mastercard $10k / Blispay $7.5k PayPal Ex MC $10.8k
CareCredit 5k / Husq $5k / Cap1 QS $4.5k / Barclay Ring $5.35k / Citi DC (WMC) $12k

Re: Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

People may be referring to Signature cards not helping credit because some don't report their limit/balance.  CSP, however, reports both so you can use it as a regular card.  I can't speak to the Flexperks card.

Keep using that CSP!

By credit, are you actually referring to utilization?

Re: Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

I'm actually talking about my credit scores. My EQ, EX and TU are lower than I want it to be, but that has to do with my one 30 and one 60 day late that occurred 6-7 months ago due to me not setting up my Bill Pay through USBank correctly. They were brought current immediately when I found out, but GW went unanswered/denied, and I can't dispute accurate information, so I'm basically screwed until they fall off a long time from now.

I'm trying to do all I can to make my score as high as it can be with these derogs.

I'm currently at 17% util across the board.

Re: Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

Ok, the fact a card is a signature or not plays no role for FICO scoring. The only difference would be if one signature reports a limit and the other does it could affect utilization different this causing your scores to fluctuate. I'm thinking though nowadays most signature card report the same as any other cards so there is no need to worry. Your credit will continue to progress. Also, IMO, there is no need to maximize scores by playing the utilization game unless you are planning to app for something very soon.

Re: Continuing to use my CSP and Flexperks Rewards cards?

I'd like to app for Wells Fargo, since I'm planning on accepting a new job in a city where USBank doesn't have a presence. I always like to have a card with whoever I bank with.

I tried moving to them for different reasons about 2 years ago and was denied for some very strange reasons (I had a checking account with them when I was 14, and I owed $7 dollars in fees that I didnt pay at that time). Paid off the $7, still declined.

Wondering if it's worth a shot again?
