Could "Check App. Status" for Discover down?

Anyone else having issues accessing their application online?

Not sure how long it takes to receive the card so I am a little concerned now. My wife got hers pretty quickly (back in Nov.).

Approved for Discover It card on 2/2/18 through chat. I moved on 2/3. Still haven't received the card and no emails from Discover as of today (2/10). Decided to check the status hoping to see "card has been mailed" or something. Instead I received "There was an error retrieving your application. Please try again."

I probably should have used my new address but knew "lived here 2 yrs" looked better than '1-mo' on the application. Mail has been forwarding since Mon. 2/4 so figured I could just update my address when I received the card. I guess I will call if I don't receive it by next week.

DP:

  • Approved on 2/2/18 after pre-approved through Discover's credit report card site (MF EX 666, 10% util.).
  • Approved for $1,200 for Discover It.
  • This is my 2nd bank card application and approval.
  • It's been 1 yr since Ch. 7 discharge (2/2/17).
  • Not instant, but immediate approval. (Had to upload a copy of my utility bill and copy of ID, than instructed to "call now" for status. Chat window popped up and received approval through chat (no call made).
  • Still waiting to receive card on 2/10/18.
  • So far appears to be a SP.

idk

If one knows one is moving tomorrow, best not to app a new card today.  That is how fraud issues appear with the bank.

Agree... Is a nightmare during or right after a move applying for new credit until you new address gets into the CRA's...  Had issues a few ago when I moved.

Re: Could "Check App. Status" for Discover down?

Out of curiosity, were you ever able to retreive your application status online throughout the process with them? I'm experiencing a similar situation... initially given the 5-7 day message and then couldn't (and still can't) access my application status online. I get the same message you were getting. Called to speak to a representative to find out the status and they said there were '2' applications submitted and so the system had to cancel one out since you can only submit one. I found this odd and advised her I am only aware of one submission, however perhaps the system submitted it twice by error or I guess it's possible I hit submit twice.

Anyway, she said she couldn't give me a response yet on my decision, for it was still pending review and there was no denial or approval yet. Just curious as to how long this can typically take with them. From most forum posts I've read, it seems Discover's application process is not as streamline and can take a bit. They haven't even HP'd me yet and I applied Friday night (04/13/2018), which she did confirm no one reviews applications over the weekend and this is pending 'manual' review.

I'm also concerned that perhaps the '2' application submittal triggered a fraud alert, but for the status to not be available online (even if I was denied) is frustrating, since when I call, they keep giving me the same response.

Any feedback would be wonderful and thanks in advance!

Re: Could "Check App. Status" for Discover down?

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I applied Saturday night and got the 5-7 day message. The check status website gives me the same error. I spoke to a regualr CSR who said I'd receive a letter yada yada and check the website in 72 hours. I told him about the error message and he transferred me to someone else who said I only showed prequals and no actual applications, but they also seemed to have a bad phone number for me, which makes no sense. Then she looked again and said it looks like I had a couple of apps. She transferred me again to a new guy.

He started out by saying "you have to actually submit a full app after a prequal." Well, yeah, I know, I did, hence the 5-7 day message. He was confused, placed me on hold, apologized and said there was no application, and suggested I just submit it again. Of course I'm concerned about a double pull if I do that so I'm just going to wait for the letter. I have a 792 Equifax FICO 9 accoding to my PenFed approval, but I wouldn'tbe surprised if they wanted income docs because I've been at my new company for only a couple of months. That's actually what I assumed the issue was until the call today and reading this post.

Thank you for the response! This helps tremendously because it sounds like you’re situation is similar to mine. My income also just recently increased so this might have been reason also. I’ll try calling and get transferred to someone who can give me more information. Thanks again!

Re: Could "Check App. Status" for Discover down?

So I called the backddor number where'd you normally ask for recon and the woman was pretty confident my application did not go through despite all of the mixed messages I got before. I trusted her, thankfully, as she's the first person who sounded like she knew what she was looking at. I received a mail offer the day after my previous post and decided to go through the full app and got instantly approved for 15K. It's possible I did something wrong initially but I think something just got caught up in the system. Figured I'd post the final result here, though.

Just a side note as I posted somewhere else - I thought they'd pull Equifax but they pulled Experian here in AZ.

Awesome! That's wonderful news! Congrats, and nice SL!

Well, my experience ended up being similar. Called and spoke to a rep who actually seemed experienced and she advised me that my two apps had actually both cancelled out and neither had a contact phone number listed (interesting). I asked if I should just apply again online and she said actually, if you want, I can transfer you to my team associate who can process your app over the phone so you can get an immediate answer (obviously I had been filling this rep's ear with my utter frustration so she seemed more than willing to please me). So she transferred me and this team associate ends up telling me I never actually filled out an app, only a prequal. I advised her I was pretty sure I filled out an app (I know the difference, prequals don't ask for income info) and that they may want to update their site then because I've heard of numerous individuals having problems with their online application process.

She processed my info, got a result back to ask me a few more questions (for identity protection and/or verification I was told) and voila.... instantly approved for $6.5K SL! So, long story short, if anyone else reads this forum and is having similar issues, please make sure you are communicating with them until you get an answer. It may take a few phone calls and be a bit frustrating, but it's worth it in the end.

P.S. - They ended up pulling Equifax on me here in FL. Here I thought they'd pull Experian so I guess it happened the opposite for me. Smiley Happy
