Course of action to take after denial of Lowering APR

It was my best but card which currently has a 21.74 apr and a 59 AF which I also asked to have taken away or reduced which was also outright denied. I don't want to cancel it or threaten to do so because I feel they wouldn't care. It is a zero balance right now and I've paid it in full the last two billing periods. It is also one of the only non retail cards I have to use (besides CAPONE, which I refuse to use because of their asinine credit limits) what do you think I should do ? Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you do not carry a balance, I am not sure as to why you care about the annual percentage rate. I have never asked for a rate reduction so am not sure the procedure for it. I would just leave it alone though; not worth it if you do not need it.

Re: Course of action to take after denial of Lowering APR

Well I pay it off as much as I can. But sometimes when funds are tied up I can't always PIF so I have to carry a balance. Because I am trying to recover from numerous inquiries , I am trying to lower APRs and increase credit limits so when I apply in the future I have so leverage on getting lower APRs and high limits.

Re: Course of action to take after denial of Lowering APR

Did they give any reason (account too new, too little spend, etc) for either decision?

Assuming that the decision cannot be changed, you have to decide the pros and cons of closing.  It sounds like you might need it as the only non-store card you use.  If that's the case, then I guess you just have to accept the denial, and wait until inqs etc go down and you can maybe get a better card

Re: Course of action to take after denial of Lowering APR

I have a few other non store card visas like my chase Disney with a lower APR but I don't want to use it too much and have high utiliZation. And the BOA card I have is being used as a debt consolidator which will be paid this month. The reason they gave was something about not having a lower APR available which seemed kind of a lie to me.. And I've heard stories of people with this card getting the AF reduced or even credited back to them because they threatened to close but I feel my credit report as it stands now wouldn't even make then hesitate to close my account. Like I said earlier I'm trying my best to garden til nearly all my inquiries fall off.. 5 already came off this year.
