I agree, as George Bush Jr once said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, won't get fooled again."

I will hold out from their pre-approved BS until I qualify for a Chase or Citi card.

Re: Crapital One!

how hard is it to throw them in the bin? it is accepted that Cap1 sends out lot of pre-approvals and they have a problem. But easy to throw them away rather than getting pissed about it.

I would suggest not to app spree with them, rather wait for their preapprovals to come, like I did.

My first card was cap1, then wamu and now Chase Freedom, all preapprovals. Now i am waiting for american express blue preapproval (if they send one) In my oppinion, getting and applying to preapprovals from prime banks means you are kinda ready for them.

Re: Crapital One!

Yes, but what if the Chase pre-approval also turns into a Chase pre-decline like the Cap 1 did?

yes I agree, it is not a one fit solution for all, But what I am saying is, getting pre-approvals from Chase/Citi is a good sign rather than getting pre-approvals from Cap1 or Wamu.

Re: Crapital One!

I was told by discover that the preapprovals are sent out based on information from 3-4 weeks before they actually mail out the preapprival.  Maybe Capitol is running a few weeks behind. They will probably stop sending you preapprovals within a few weeks. Otherwise, call Capitol One and ask them not to send you any offers.
