Hi. I've been thinking about applying for some credit cards in the next few months after some heavy gardening. My only concern is I'm not sure how many I would get approved for, so that is a ''good'' number to apply for at one time where I don't take a major it? Thanks!
Rather than how many do you want - how many do you actually "need" ?
As in...like...I dunno?
I'm not sure if I really ever 'needed'' a credit card but I want to build my history up, plus I like to use to benefits. I want a Discover IT, AmEX and a Chase Freedom card. But I'm still not sure about the 'need'' part.
I went on a Spree this week and Apped for 5 and got approved for all 5. With the exception of the simplicity card all got higher then $3k limits

To establish credit, and for optimized FICO you would probably be ok with 3 Cards. As for the wanting part, I'd only get the cards that could be beneficial to you. For example, I applied for the Amex card on a whim, but I applied for a card that would be beneficial to me. Once a month (at least) I fly from Florida to Ohio for work - and usually on Delta - so I got the Delta SkyMiles card. My travel requirements and the beneifts I get made for a "need" for that specific card.
So to determine "need" see which cards benefit you the most. Where do you spend mos of your money? Find a card that gives you the most benefits for the money you already spend.
Hope that helps somewhat

Your scores seem to be 100 points higher then the Op so Ops chances are slim of getting the same results.

Prime means what exactly? I see no point in advising anyone to app for credit cards without knowing more about the OP's profile.

I see. I guess Amazon....but I'm not a particularly materialistic person, that's what makes it hard. I'll buy a few video games here and there. I don't travel right now. Maybe things will change when I graduate.

This is true. I think I can hit nearly mid 600s in a couple of months. High balances are killing me. I probably wouldn't apply until near September/August.
