My wife is looking for a credit card after improving her credit information quite a bit recently. She is an AU on most of the accounts in my signature, but only holds one credit card of her own - a Capital One with a $1.5K limit that she has had for 1.5 years. Her scores are EX-689, EQ-676, and TU-683. INQ are EX-1, EQ-5, and TU-1 but all of them are over 1 year old. She does have three closed collections accounts (2 from 2008 and 1 from 2011).
Any directions for a credit card for her? She is looking for high CL and cash rewards, if possible. She has checked for pre-approvals with Chase and CrediCards.com match with no pre-approvals.
Also, let her try a credit union. Go to your local CU for a credit card. They are pretty good with nice limit(s)..

Check pre-approval sites for Dicsover and chase Freedom, those are a good start, if she shops at Walmart at all think about an AP for the credit score and frequent CLI's Amazon card if she shops there. Again GE bank is awesome with CLI's. A Mastercard/Visa card and good AU card history may be enough to get you in with Chase and discover it worked for my son. Surprised CapOne isn't bombing your mailbox with pre-approval offers, they started to arrive 2 months after I added my as an AU to my CapOne cards. Now Citibank and BOA have taken turns sending pre-selected offers with damm good rates, for a person with 3 cards and low income. And less than 1 year of credit card history on report.
I also recommend Discover, and the BCE..or maybe an AMEX charge for a year.
As mentioned above, the Wallyworld DC might be a good choice for the free score.
She has checked for pre-approval with both Discover and Chase but they don't list any offers. I'm assuming she could still be approved even if the pre-approvals aren't showing up?
Yes, mostly the pre-approvals/selected means that her name came up in one of the mailing lists requested from a credit reporting agency which have specific types of people they are looking for. Its not necessarily bad that its not on the list.
