I don't see how you can make that work more than one billing cycle.

With Cap 1, Citi, and Discover there is a minimum finance charge of $.50 so if you want to pay $.50 for the privilege of carrying a penny balance that is your right.

HSBC does give CLI's. They are not currently accepting customer initiated increases but expect to within the next couple of months. Since they "froze" consumer initiated increases I have received an Auto CLI. They are just real picky right now. I run a TON of money through the card is the only reason I think I got the Auto. I literally pay the card in full 5 or 6 times a month. They are loving me for usage right now.

you pay for for the daily average balance if don't pif you pay for the entire cycle not just the $0.01 left

It's not just the $.01 they'll be collecting interest on. Paid in full means paid in full. Not paid in full = no grace period...on any of it. Expect new interest charges on your next statement after you leave that $.01 balance, and expect to not feel better when that happens. And depending on the size of your average daily balance, those interest charges could far surpass the minimum interest charge for your account.
