Hey guys,
Wasn't sure if anyone had any experience with this or not...but I'm awaiting my Citi Aadvantage Select AMEX version in the mail sometime in the next few days, and I was given a $5k initial credit limit during the instant approval....for some reason I thought it was $7,500 but I looked again, and I was looking at something different...anyways..
Does anyone have any experience upon calling to activate the card and being granted a higher limit upon activation? My income is pretty good, and I have nothing bad on my reports other than inquiries and I have about 20-25% UTIL...just wanted to know if this is something CITI might do if I explain I'm trying to keep UTIL low, and wanted to make more purchases with this card...anyways just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts I mean obviously the computer generates this limit automatically, but hopefully upon review they could grant a new "intial" limit perhaps?
Yea or when you call to activate your card ask to speak to someone instead of doing the automated activation. They might be able to give you the CLI too.
otherwise 4 months you should be good for cli online

So is Citi, 4 months, 3 months or 6 months for the first CLI? (Most posts I've seen state you can request for a CLI every 3 months after your first one, but what about the very first CLI?)
Also would this be X months from when you applied for the card, or X statement cuts?

First CLI with Citi can be attempted after 6 months. After that, it can be as soon as 2 months in between. YMMV.
@tray wrote:I personally would try to hold out and if you can wait six months, if you do ask for a cli now it will most likely be another hard pull.
Oh this actually reminds me that when I got approved for my Dividend I asked for a CLI about a day later. I was asked how much, I stated 2k (my limit was also 2k) and I was advised someone will review my request and I will get an automated call within 30 minutes.
Not only was I denied the CLI, but they pulled another hard on EX (and this was about 24 hours after they pulled the approval inquiry). It was very annoying, but at least I got 2 cards with one inquiry (or two if you count the CLI one) and from what I've been reading CITI grows with you quite nicely so not that big of a deal I suppose.
