I thought I closed all my citi AA cards last year. While looking at my account tonight I see that I didn't close one of them. I know the rule is you can't get the bonus if you opened or closed the card in the last 24 months, but what about if you have the card already and its been over 24 months since it was opened? Can you get the card again with signup bonus if you have the card already?
Apply over the phone to confirm that you qualify and get the name of the representative as an extra bit of insurance in case you do run into any issues.

Yes, I did exactly that with the Citi AA Platinum. Have 2 or them currently. Will be closing my first one out soon to reset the 24 month clock

No need to do that and the last thing you want to do is to rely on the word of a frontline CSR as to whether you will receive a bonus or not. It’s meaningless.

I've had issues with some credit card incentive programs in the past and when I start giving names and getting annoyed stuff gets done.
Although they may be a "frontline CSR" they represent the company. Am I wrong?
Read the incentive fine print and get a name at the time of application for an extra bit insurance, if you insist that you are 100% correct and there are no program changes you are unaware of or misinterpretation of the rules then I guess calling and having a name is not needed.

So @Anonymous, if I understand the rules correctly, my AA Executive will be roughly 24 months in August, but all my previous AA Platinum Select CCs have been closed for over 24 months, then the bonus would still apply, correct?
Plus I want to keep the AA Executive 😁
Yes, you would be eligible for another Platinum card

Yes of course they represent the company. Nonetheless every Cc issuer has wording that their rules are the final determining factor and they overrule anything said by any representative. In fact, front CSRs often give out incorrect information about bonuses because they are not familiar with their own company’s rules and it doesn’t matter one bit if one of them tells you that you are eligible, you apply and then don’t receive the bonus because you weren’t eligible in the first place. That’s why I never bother to even ask. You’re far better to inquire at places like here or read FlyerTalk’s Wiki’s about all of the major card bonuses.
