Currently at 3/24; Need Help with App Timing

I got these cards this year:

CFU: $5600 (9/25/2018)
CSP: $7000 (11/1/2018)
Amex BCP $2000 (11/1/2018)

Currently want to add the Freedom, Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited. After I get the Ink Unlimited I’ll get the Amex Plat and be at 5/24. I’ll also PC my CSP to CSR.

Freedom will be my next app. When would the earliest I should apply without making Chase nervous? I plan on PC’n my FU to another Freedom then getting the Ink Unlimited right after. I was initially thinking March 1, 2019 for apply for the freedom and June 1, 2019 for the Ink Cash. My fear is acquiring 4 chase cards in 10 months may cause an AA.

2020 I’ll likeky go for the other Ink cards or finishing building out an Amex collection.

What other credit history do you have? What is your AAoA?

You have 2 brand new Chase accounts. It'd probably be best to show some good history on those and not poke the Chase bear for a while. (thinking maybe a year) They can get spooked and close everything (AA) as has been told by others here, by applying for too much at once.

My AAoA is 6 years and the CSP and BCP didn’t report yet. Experian is at 717. I have 4 baddies 3 30 days 1 60 day from 2+ years ago.

Solid AAoA and your score is decent..  You could try, but I have seen posts on here from people that received AA from Chase for too many new accounts after they were approved. Chase is one of the more mysterious lenders (aside from 5/24) when it comes to their internal scoring. I personally had Freedom pop up with a green checkmark when I signed into my accounts and it came back denied for too many new accounts (I was over 5/24, but I was 9/24 when they gave me CSP with the green checkmark a few months before this.) After that, I decided to let my current Chase cards grow, and I've gotten 2 auto CLI's from them so far.)

I would give it a couple more months to show spend and history. If you are going to have most of your credit eggs with Chase, take your time and build that relationship. If you try and get too many of their cards too fast and for whatever reason they decide to close your accounts, youll be stuck with your Amex only and seeing as you enjoy Chase, not good lol. Good luck, if its not imperative, take your time.JmhoSmiley Happy

Yeah you’re right Joe. I’ll wait to do anything until at least March. I plan on putting through a lot of spend on these cards and of course PIF. Maybe I’ll get the green check mark or auto luv.

I was torn between Amex and Chase but in the end the Chase Cards are harder to get. The new Good has a steady grocery spend which is still super tempting but I read here people link their chase pay with Samsung pay and use that everywhere which I think is brilliant. In the end I’ll have both systems but that’s the end game.

This is seemingly how I earned 2 auto CLI's on my Freedom Unlimited, while letting a balance post at least here and there. Sounds like a good plan! Smiley Wink

Re: Currently at 3/24; Need Help with App Timing

OP, congrats on the new cards. They will earn useful points, and an upgrade to the CSR seems assured.

With those baddies, though you really need to consider taking a year off from any apps. The list of cards you want to add will only net you a small marginal increase in points, vs sticking with the cards you have to build history with chase.

Continuing with more apps in just a few months risks AA, due to the combo of lates and new accounts, and if you get shut down, you get no UR points.

It may seem like you are getting to a “perfect setup” but there is a very real risk of getting to nothing.

Re: Currently at 3/24; Need Help with App Timing

NRB,

You’re right it’s not worth the risk. I’m even panicking when thinking if Chase will AA me when the BCP reports but 3 cards in two months won’t warrant that. If I can get one card between now and one year from today I’ll be happy. My mind tells me to be patient but the 5X UR is calling my name. LOL

I have a good setup as is, just super excited to get real usable cards after a long rebuild. I’ll shift my attention to writing another round of GW letters. First round was met with a big fat no but I was expecting it. I’m hoping that I can put enough spend through Chase that they’ll pre approve me for the Freedom but with a 60 late in my profile that may never happen. If I can get the baddies removed then even better.

My baddies are with two creditors. TD Retail has 3 of the 4 with one of them being a 60. Cap One has the other. I have a fifth but it’s a 30 day and falls off in two months. Maybe having 3 accounts with late remarks go down to 2 will help but from what I’ve read a 30 day late after 6 years will have no impact.

I can make use of those 5X cats but risking it and getting 0X would be awful. After learning I can link Chase pay with Samsung pay I saw points dancing around my head because virtually everywhere near me takes Samsung pay. I’ll In retrospect I shouldn’t have applied for the BCP but I was pre-approved and was riding high off my CSP acceptance. Would chase even pre approve someone with late payments? I’m hoping for auto luv in the meantime as a positive sign. Wound opening business cards risk a Chase shutdown?

I’ll have the late payment fall off in December along with two inquiries. I’ll see where I am in June and go from there. June 1st will be 7 months since my CSP approval so it’s plenty time to work on GW attempts and letting my accounts age. By January 1st I plan on putting a total of $8k through both Chase cards and obviously paying them.

Actually all of this AA thoughts have me thinking not to put my egg in one ecosystem. Nothing I can do about it now. If start opening Amex cards then Chase can still AA me.
