Decided to app for DCU Platinum without membership and got the pending status message. It's been a few days. Is this good? Or have they just not looked at it? Should I upload paystubs without waiting? I'm excited to possibly become a member of DCU, however long the wait, since I've heard many good things about this credit union.

Welcome to the forum
IMO you should have waited for membership 1st
Thanks much. Is there priority service for members versus other applications?

Welcome to myFICO. The general wisdom here is that membership first is your best bet, but good luck to you.

I think I'd upload relevant information anyway. DCU is one of the more documentation-oriented lenders, and the more you can get out ahead of it the easier I suspect you'll find dealing with them.
Overall they are a good credit union compared to pretty much any of them out there, and I at least agree that it's worth the wait and the initial hoops.

My understanding is that DCU can and will approve you for a credit card, but you will still need to obtain membership with them before they will send you the card. If they fail to confirm your identity through the various scanned documents you sent them for membership, then you will have wasted a HP.
I've been "pending" since Friday. I had applied for the Visa Platinum first, and after reading all the DCU threads realized I had better apply for membership ASAP to avoid any delays. Monday morning I received an email from membership dept requesting my DL. I scanned and emailed it immediately. Today I received another email requesting a clearer version of my DL as well as a colored copy of my SS card. I couldn't locate SS card so I sent in a new scan of DL, Passport and Voter registration card. I followed up the email with a phone call to confirm their receipt of all the documents. The rep confirmed and stated someone would call me back in an hour.. While waiting I located my SS Card and emailed that in as well. No phone call, however I received a Welcome letter via email instructing me to contact the loan department if I had to finalize any applications.
I called and was greeted by a very personable young lady who after confirming my ID, put me on hold. She told me that my app hadn't been reviewed yet but she would have an analyst take a look. Here, it gets a little weird. After several minutes she returned and told me I was denied. I asked her how could that be, I have a 700 score and a 1% util with only 1 baddie. She went back to asked the analyst to take another look. She asked me how much was I interested in and I told her 3K (because I was afraid I would be denied for requesting too high a limit). A minute she came back with an approval and told me that their automated system had calculated a tax lien as part of my extended credit owed. If I hadn't requested a manual review, I would have wasted an inquiry and opportunity to grow with a very liberal company based on what I've read so far.
Keep your head up and be patient. I'm sure you'll be a member soon as well. I'm off to the Garden.
