DCU Secured Credit Card

I am trying to repair my credit. I've never had a BK. My TU is 654. However, I applied to a DCU secured credit card and they denied me. They told me I had too many inquiries in my credit report, (15). Is that normal with a secured card application?

Welcome to the forum, not sure but maybe you can try Cap 1 secured. Keep in mind they pull all 3 when checking credit. Good Luck. also SDFCU does one without a hard pull at all but they do require membership though.

Re: DCU Secured Credit Card

Thanks ronstar7. I did fill the SDFCU membership for a checking account about 4 days ago and they approved it. I received their email this morning. I will try with their secured Visa to see if I get it approved. I read it has very good benefits.

Re: DCU Secured Credit Card

Thanks. I have one unsecured Capital One with a $2000 CL, one unsecured Capital One Journey with a $500 CL, First Premier $300, Old Navy $200, CareCard $1000, Amazon $600, Macys $600, VIctoria Secrets $300 and Walmart $150. All of them were approved during the last two months. I wanted to have a secured card to try to increase my FICO. Chase Freedom, Target and HSN were denied because of the hard inquiries. I don't want to have more HP inquiries. I guess I will have to garden for a while...

1. close first premier and don't pay anymore fees

2. you only need 3 accounts to build your fico, it's just a matter of utilization on your current credit accounts that will continue to have your score go up.

3. I would actually say at this point with just opening 9 accounts in last 2 months, opening anymore will actually make your fico go DOWN, not up... you need to garden and let these accounts age and in 6-12 months you will be very happy with way you are...

in the mean time you can request credit line increases on the GE backed cards every 4 months and your capital one journey at minimum of your two capital one cards is in credit steps I bet so you will see an auto increase by the 7th month if you pay on time.

Re: DCU Secured Credit Card

I agree, that is excellent advice from Credit Addict. You have multiple TL's that unsecured. The $2k Cap One is solid. Gardening is your best bet by far
