In keeping with my theory that it's best to focus on the largest lenders when pursuing large relative limits, my top lenders also are some with the largest deposits and/or card presence.

NavyFed is an outlier with $190B in assets
NavyFed is an outlier. It is the largest CU with $190B+. I see various users with $80K NavyFed Flagship Cards in the signature.

Capital One is $669B Assets. It ranks No. 4 in Credit Card Spend and No 3 in balances. (And that's excluding Discover)
I see people hit $50K with CapitalOne. One person reported $90K.

Discover
I seen people hit $50K with Discover.

Agree with all those points, @E36.

Yes, NFCU is an outlier in terms of high limits (relative to assets) and we've had a lot of our forum members reach $80K TCL on Flagship Rewards with modest incomes and spending patterns.   And yes, Capital One and Discover have long been major card issuers outside the larger national banks.  With the right profile and relationship, they can grow very well also.  My personal data points back up all that you said.

  • I've got that $80K CL on my Flagship Rewards.
  • My Capital One Savor has a $50K CL that began as a $1K CL Visa Platinum in 2009.
  • My Discover IT has a $52K CL that dates to 1993 and is my oldest currently-active card.
