Re: Declined by CCCU....

Chex Systems is a toughy!  Had one 5 years ago that just dropped off - been waiting a long time.  U S Bank did not give a hard time with this and retained us - it was an employee credit union that reported due to some overdrafts - did not even have an unpaid balance with the bank - covered the overdraft immediately upon notice.

I think I did appeal to Credit Union and Chex Systems at one time and just resigned to wait it out.

Re: Declined by CCCU....

What is ChexSystems? Is that a bounced check thing with banks or is it criminal type of history?

Is that something that credit cards use in order to obtain or deny credit cards?

Probably a silly question, but I've never heard of them.

Re: Declined by CCCU....

Yes they keep data on how you handle your checking account, more importantly if you bounce a lot of checks or leave owing the bank on a checking account.  It can be very hard to get a checking account if they have outstanding information on you.  A friend of mine (Katrina victim) unknowingly had checks that bounced just after the storm.  She didn't learn about them until she moved here and tried to set up an account - DENIED.  She couldn't get a bank account anywhere until all arrears were paid in full.

Re: Declined by CCCU....

It has to do with banks. And you're obtaining credit from a bank. So they run a check on there to determine if you've been shady with banks.

I had a baddy on chex systems that caused me to get denied for an auto loan last year. So it's a big thing and you want to check it out.

Request a free report of your chex systems @ http://www.chexhelp.com/

It took about 10 days to get mine.

Re: Declined by CCCU....

Does Chex Systems affect your credit report / FICO in any way?

Re: Declined by CCCU....

I'm confused.  Are we saying that CCCU checks something else besides your FICO score?  Are there any other CC that check anything else besides FICO?
