tl;dr is there any difference between an Amex app by phone with Delta and an online app? Current amex cardholder (personal revolver, business charge, corporate charge).
Details:
I called in to make a special-needs reservation tonight, and after the agent had gotten me through all the steps, she mentioned the Delta Amex card. I said I was considering it, but wanted to wait for Amex to update my credit report. She was cool with that, and knew I already had an Amex (since I paid for the fees on my Amex BSP).
She said to be sure to call back when I was ready to apply, because there are more perks if I apply through them vs online.
Does anyone know if this is true, and what the additional perks are?
I've seen the Delta signup page at http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/skymiles/earn-miles/earn-miles-with-partners/credit-card-part... ... wondering if they have anything extra beyond that. And I'd like to have the SP-on-denial possibility in case Amex is not as happy with me as I'd like them to be.
Thanks all.
You would have to ask them to outline how the benefits are different. I don't know how they would make the distiction of where you apped, where you got the card. Once you get the card it is just an AMEX co-branded Delta Gold SkyMiles CC.
Your minimum spend will be 1k for a incognito or targeted offer vs 2k. Make sure you get at least 50 or 60k miles. Pair it with a prg for another 50k miles and $200! That's one inquiry for 100k delta miles and $250 in egift cards! After 2k spend in 90 days!

I poked around incognito last night and only found 30k. But I'm thinking I may garden for the rest of the year and then lookaround first thing next year.
SPG is a bit more tempting than Delta, since I fly American, but sometimes Delta is more convenient and the priority boarding/free bag would be worth the fee.
Thanks all, and Merry Christmas!
u can register for skymiles and get the offer by mail or email very easily.
also yes, there is tax involved but the $250 offsets that for sure.

I've been a SkyMiles member since at least 2001 Still no recent offers, but I'll keep an eye out. All I've seen lately (i.e. during 2015) is SPG and Hilton.
Well, SPG AMEX is likely not to be around much longer, so harvesting that one first would make the most sense, in my opinion.
If you work the SPG status to Gold ( I think mine is there) or Delta to Medallion Silver at least, then there are CrossOver Rewards between SPG and Delta. When you use either Delta flights or SPG stays, you earn points also in the other program, in addition to the paid for points in the flight or stay.
