Just curious about something. I was denied a Citi CLI last month and they did a hard pull. However, they did explain that when you call in you can talk to a CSR who will tell you if you're eligible for an increase before pulling a credit inquiry. I guess they based it off of what they had on file. Not sure why they didn't do that the first time, but oh well. Anyway, I was reading somewhere that people who asked about the soft pull and didn't qualify recieved denial letters that referenced their most recent score with Citi. Is that true, and if so does it mean there is another inquiry even though it references a past report? I'd be interested in trying with Citi again in 6 months, but I want to know what i'm getting myself into in terms of "soft pulls"

Its always best to call in and make sure they are aware you do not want a HP. Online is YMMV.
