Re: Denied for Sony Card / Synchrony Pulled EX

So I called the backdoor number for GE Credit Solutions, which forwarded me to Sony Card Accounts at 800-333-1071, which forwarded me to another underwriter.

It turns out that SYNCB is looking at each merchant as a seperate application with different stips. Even though my score is about the same as it was when I opened my Amazon account with them (then GE), they look at each account differently. I asked the representative point-blank if that's the case and she confirmed it. And as was stated earlier in the thread, they do no recon on declinations--she repeated over and over that I would, "get a letter in the mail, ok?" (as if to hurry me off the line)

Bottom line: beware if you get approved for one SYNCB account, it doesn't mean you'll be approved for others. I find it interesting that they pull EX for this when they pulled TU for Amazon, but then again, that was before GE sold it.

This has been the case for sometime now with Sony cards backed by GE.  My card is almost two years old and they pulled Ex for app and hp'd it for a cli 9 mos later-

I was thinking of calling Credit Solutions and asking them about this.... a Banana Republic store clerk encouraged me to apply for their card.  I looked at the online application and noticed their were questions about prior bankruptcy etc which didn't seem at all in line with most GE applications. I thought that maybe SYNCB have changed their stips for all of their store cards and psimac answered this question.

Re: Denied for Sony Card / Synchrony Pulled EX

I disagree that u cant recon with GE/SYNCB when declined... in my experience when I applied for the Sony card online, I was given a reference num to call in. After I did, the first rep basically told me they cant approve my application and I'll be receiving a letter in the mail. I was very shocked considering that I had scores in the mid 700s. Well I hung up and called back in almost immediately and requested to speak to a supervisor (I was very pissed off really). She was a nice lady and after letting her know that my app was denied for no apparent reason, she asked for a few moment to go over my app again. Minutes later she came back and got me approved for a $1500 CL... Asked if I needed more credit and I happily agreed but that was when I finally got shot down (requested $8500 btw). Yeah they pulled EX for me and im in NY/NJ

Re: Denied for Sony Card / Synchrony Pulled EX

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, my EX is not mid-700s, but maybe when I get the letter I'll call again. Can't hurt, right?

Re: Denied for Sony Card / Synchrony Pulled EX

GE/Sync pulls TU for the majority of their store cards and cobranded visa/mc. Their accounts with stores like hhgregg, vcf, sony finance, etc they will pull EX. Pretty much any store card where the application asks about "initial purchase amount" is going to be an EX pull.

Starting Scores - EX 547 || EQ 541 || TU 538 - 01/21/2014
Current Scores - EX 691 || EQ 628??? || TU 695 - 08/04/2015
Goal Scores - 720 across the board
Current Utilization - 12% and going down
