Denied!!!

How long should you wait after being denied for a card, should you reapply for it?

Re: Denied!!!

Some companies say 30 days some say 90 days. It depends on the card issuer policy.

Re: Denied!!!

I would say 6 months.  Don't get too app-happy or you'll keep getting hit with wasted inqs.

Re: Denied!!!

Yeah, I was thinking 6 months. I don't want too many inquiries in a short amount of time.

Re: Denied!!!

I definitely hurts when someone says no.  I was declined by Discover and Citi in the last year and I have above average credit with impressive trade lines.  It just makes me never want to do business with those companies even though I know a machine made the decision.

Re: Denied!!!

I have found wait 6-months, with all that's out there move on and don't look back. There will be too many others who may work with you. If you are new to credit, go to local credit union or bank. If you have baddies start trying to remove.

You can find pre-approved sites within the forums that will do soft pulls and let you know what cards you pre-qualify for, this has helped me. You can also go to whogavemecredit.com.

Hope this helps keep moving forward your day is coming.

Re: Denied!!!

Before wasting inquiries, get your scores up a bit.  If you can get TU over 600, these are several cards that will give you a YES (store wise) which can convert to a co-branded (eventually), i.e. Macy's, Wal-Mart, Target.  In my experience, GEMB products have been easy.

Do you have Crown Jewelers?   Sterling Cards are also fairly easy (Jared, Kay, JB Robinson).  If you get one, you'll usually get all three.

Just be careful with your app's.

Re: Denied!!!

Yes, I was approved for the crown jewelers card and I haven't bought anything yet. So, you suggest that I wait until my score is up to over 600? I planned on it being over 600 by November, that is my goal. Well, atleast transunion and experian. I have some work to do on Equifax.

Re: Denied!!!

Sams is a GEMB card and I have had good luck with it.  Satrted a 300 CL and it is now at 3100.  Took 3 years to get there though

You need to make a purchase from Crown Jewelers before they will report. I found a very inexpensive pair of earrings for my daughter I ordered to get the ball rolling. Kind of ironic to have a jewelry store card and I can't wear jewelry because of allergic reactions.
