How large was your balance compared to your credit line? Was the payment very large and close to the credit line? I do not think I worded that correctly....let me try this...lets say you have a $10,000 limit and you had a $9,975 balance and you made $9,900 worth of payments during the billing cycle. I could see why a creditor would do this; especially if you live in SoCal. I worked for a Visa bank many years ago and we had unscrupulous "customers" that liked to check kite; they would charge up their card and then sent a check payment in full or make a phone payment in full. The bank being foolishly trusting, would free up their available credit line. Those "customers" would then charge up their card again to the full credit line. A few days later the payment would be returned NSF and the "customer" would bail. This was really prevalent in Southern California (surprise, surprise).

I'm late to the party, but I'll offer this:
For 7 years, I've had a Citi Forward card with ('til very recently) a 7K limit (I think it started at 5 or 6K). For much of 2015, 2016 & 2017, it was not uncommon for me to have a high-ish balance on the card. In the latter half of this year, to prep for a refi, I was laser-focussed on paying down my cards, and often made multiple payments in a given cycle -- easily 2 or 3, and possibly as many as 4 or 5.
Nary a complaint from Citi. It probably helped that I've almost always paid electronically via direct transfer, and have had a clean payment record with them since I opened the card. (Actually, my overall record's been good with all issuers for over 7 years, but for one slip-up in Feb '12.)
Earlier this month, after having all but cleared the balance, I pursued an online CLI. Bumped to 8.5 with a soft pull. Likely could've had more, but that would have required a hard pull.
Bottom line - like Co_Native, I'm delighted with Citi as far as payment & posting goes. (I do think their alert and fraud resolution processes need work, but that's another matter.)
