Discover 2025 Q2 5% Categories

Discover annouces their 5% 2025 Q2 categories for their rotating cards:

Grocery Stores and Wholesale Clubs

Q2 2024 categories were:

Gas stations/EV charging stations; home improvement stores; public transit

Since Costco only takes Visa at the physical store, does anyone know if Disc is ok with getting Costco gift cards from the online site (which does take cards other than Visa)?

Did a homework assignment for fun !

I just logged in and went through the screens to purchase a $100 Costco gift card.

The card number entry box has the Visa and Master Card logo's above the field.

"No Discover", so I decided to try anyway.

I entered good "Discover Card" info.

The purchase failed, cleared the card number field and told me to enter a good card number.

"No" they have discover closed for online Costco purchase of  "Costco Gift Card". 

Looked as if Visa or Master Card would be OK, not Discover.

Thank you for your investigation on this! But sad that can't use Disc on thier online site I would love to use this 5% at Costco but sounds like I'm out of luck.

Could you use Discover thru Apple Pay online? Doesn't look like they accept PayPal online. (I don't shop @ Costco srry)

With Apple Pay doesn't it still come over as a Discover card (i.e. Walmart.com would know that a Discover card is being used)

Absolutely is. In previous quarters I have used the whole category limit to do so... and then used the Costco Cash cards over the next 9 months or so.

EDIT: sounds like they changed this? Unless Costco Cash is different than Costco Gift card?

Glad there is at least one workaround! Sadly, I'm not an i-thing person, so don't have Apple Pay. Does Google Pay work as well?
