Discover 3rd year should I cancel my 2nd oldest open cc for a 3rd year?

I started with a secured disco. The 2% cb on gas. Unsecured after 7-8 months cli from 200-2000. Like 6 months ago a cli to 2300.

Got second disco 1 year ago 2k sl- cli to 5500..

Misinformation from csr made me miss my opportunity to combine credit limits.

I'm not sure why I'm debating closing the older card....maybe because its been with me since I was in the very low 500 fico range..

I'm a bit upset about not combining limits. Atp the extra 2300 from the first card doesn't matter to me as I'm sure ill get a higher limit on my 3rd card.

I definitely max out the quarters on at least one Disco.(both when its the paypal quarter).

I don't see my 2300 cl card getting any cli since I've only spent 110$ on it in 8 months(forgot to update my bjs renewal to newer disco) I was lucky It was during the wholesale club quarter so I got 5% cb.

Any reason to keep older disco? I know ms disco is bi polar when it comes to sl, cli etc...

Plz lmk if I'm missing something any reason at all to keep older card?

I'd keep the older card, for the history, and roll the newer card's credit limit into it and close the new card. Then you'll have one higher limit card and can get another discover card later down the road. Wait for another CLI opportunity on the older card. Your newer card is over a year old so it's ok to be combined. I've found front line CSR to be cluelessness about this, they usually need to get a supervisor or call someone first. Next time HUCA, if you can't get someone who can help you. I did the exactly same thing with my secured discover once it unsecured, and a newer discover card I'd been approved for.

I agree with @Adkins Just hold on to it.

And in my opinion you should stop thinking about a 3rd card. Every application and new account hurts your credit. If you're going to apply for something it should be for a better reason than what you've got.

Ok so I can't get a cli on older card... I've spoke with underwriters...

The reason I have is I like 10% not 5%. But thanks for the input

Edit- I just dont use it enough...with them both bring 5% soon maybe ill shift spend to older card in hopes for cli..then combine

Getting the 10% is a great reason!  Heck as far as I am concerned it is the only reason. Useless card to me after year one.

Re: Discover 3rd year should I cancel my 2nd oldest open cc for a 3rd year?

I agree! I get at least 3% on everything usually 4 or 5% with other cards... so disco is cool and all with 0 apr they throw my way and all but like u said 10% is the real reason for the card... i know ive got a lot of approvals in past 2 years but my aaoa is growing, and I don't like looking at my disco and think 5%... Ill most likely spend a bit on old card for 2 months and get profile in shape azeo..etc then hopefully combine limits if n I get a cli.. if not ill cancel 1

Yep, Discover first year is great and there is a little sub to sweeten the pot.

10% cb seems like the best reason I can think of.
500$ matched 2 years in a row.
my 50k amex gold sub and aadvantage miles are only subs that have compared

if both cards are over 1 year and u have a cli on 1 card u can call in and combine limits. Do not trust csr if they say u can't. Ask for a supervisor or hang up call again
