My Discover APR is currently 12.49 and apparently my last APR reduction didn't take effect until 1/27, so I have another week to wait before requesting it again.
ah well.
My current Discover APR (set right around the time of CARD Act) is 10.24% V, was 9.99% V before the prime rate was raised. Before the onset of CARD Act, I originally (when I first received the card at that time) had an APR of 5.24% V...ah, I still miss greatly the good old days of ultra-low rates there for the big banks, lol... Post-CARD Act, I have not had any success so far in asking Discover to reduce the APR below the present rate of 10.24% V (Prime+6.74%, if i am hopefully doing the math right there), despite multiple attempts over the years ![]()
Just went on chat and they decreased mine by 5%...from 23.24 to 18.24. I always PIF on this card anyway, so never paid attention to what my interest rate was. Gonna chat with some of my other lenders now to see if there are APR reductions on those as well. Thanks for the thread OP and all contributors!
Last year a family member got a 0& for 15 mo, 10.24% apr offer from DIsco and he didnt bite.. Grrrrh

Same thing happen when I called to lower my Apr. Everything the OP stated in their post is exactly what happened to me.I have the same starting APR and the same offers and reduction was given to me. Only difference was I asked to get my APR below 17%, this way it matches my Amex. Representative stated they only have the power to reduce the Apr anywhere from 3 to 5 points at any single time.

II am still jealous of your fnbo amex at 6.5%v that earns 1.5% cash back, with a double digit CL!!!!!

Lol, thanks jfriend!
Not to worrry though, hopefully maybe one of these days you'll get an even better targeted offer than that in the mail since you have such outstanding and amazing FICO scores, such as the prime rate FNBO card at 3.5%?
I know the FNBO prime rate card technically has an AF, but even taking the AF into consideration and depending on your exact usage of course, you might come out even or slightly even ahead with that card? Or maybe FNBO might in the future reopen or have a second round of apps, for the 6.5% card with 1.5% cashback? (Also j/c, were you unfortunately unable to app for the 6.5% FNBO card when they had offered it from about April - June/July 2015?)

thats when my credit card frenzy began, in may 2015 with a 5k amex approval. I had much lower scores then than I do now. But I sure wish I would have tried!
