Hello everyone. I'm having an issue with my Discover card and my available credit. I have the discover student card with a 500$ credit line. I only use it if I go out and do something off campus, so I usually have a balance of 50$ or less, which I always pay on time. I've had it for 5 months. A few weeks ago I was paying a balance of 100.67. I have 2 bank accounts, a savings and a checking, and I generally keep all of my money in my savings account, because it's a pretty high amount that I only use for paying tuition, books, etc.
So I transferred the 100$ to my checking account so I could pay my discover balance. I was a little off on calculating the cents I needed from savings, since I had a few cents in my checking. I was about 10 cents overdrawn after Discover took the 100.67 out of my checking. My bank ended up returning the money because my account was overdrawn, and Discover charged me a fee. Expensive mistake. I immediately transferred the correct amount of money over and Discover took the payment with no issues.
The payment shows up as having been processed, accepted, and posted on January 13th. However, my available credit is still 100.67 behind. I have a 23$ balance, but my available credit is 375 out of 500. I called them about a week ago and they told me that since the original payment bounced it can take up to 8 days for them to ensure the funds are actually there. My only issue is that it has been 19 days since the payment was posted and the money was taken out of my account the second time.
I understand that it's my mistake for having the payment bounce, but does it normally take this long? I feel like this is excessive, especially because i've made 2 payments since then that have gone through fine, with the updating credit and everything. Does anyone have any advice?
