Discover Card

Hello,

I want to apply for a Discover it card to take advantage of the 0% APR for 14 months balance transfer that is being promoted on their website. I got pre approved for both the cash back card and the chrome card, but when I read the offer details, it said there is a 10.99% intro APR for 6 months on balance transfers. Is this change in APR specifically because of my creditworthiness? My FICO scores are 660, 659, and 657. I don’t understand they would advertise one thing and offer me something different.

Re: Discover Card

Yes, they targeted that based on your credit. I also had the pre approval of 0% APR on balance transfer and though my credit is not great, still got it somehow.

Re: Discover Card

You only get the 0% apr offer if you qualify for it. Nothing is guaranteed.

Re: Discover Card

Got it. Thank you.

I really need a card with 0% APR for a few months. I applied for a Citi card and got denied even though I did a pre approval application first. Does anyone have any suggestions? My credit scores are above. I want to apply for a Bank of America Card, but I'm scared of another denial.

Re: Discover Card

What was the reason for denial from Citi ?
What’s keeping your scores down ?
Are those scores FICO or FAKO ?

Chase Slate and Amex Everyday both offer 0% APR and $0 BT fees. Amex even gives you a SUB as well. There is a 25K point offer plus BT for Everyday if you can get it to populate.

You might have a shot at either of those cards. Both of those creditors have prequalified sites. I suggest you try both of those and report back

Re: Discover Card

I have a delinquent Wells Fargo credit card on my account from 2013 that is bringing my score down. That is the only negative thing on my credit report. When I called Citi, they stated the delinquency is why I was denied. Yes, those are my FICO scores. I pay monthly for them.

I just did the pre approval for Chase and I got a message that said "We are unable to locate any offers for you are this time."  I also got a similar message from Amex: "we could not find Pre-Qualified Offers for you at this time" :-(

I'm so frustrated.

It does appear the delinquency is what's holding you back. A lot of other people - myself included - have not-dissimilar issues (in my case, BK); I can't get pre-approved offers on Chase, Citi or Amex either and it's going to be quite a while before I do (though since I've never had an Amex account, I expect to become eligible to apply to them and get offers late next year or early 2020).

Don't give up - time, and good credit habits, heal all derogatories.

Re: Discover Card

Hey, OP!
You have great taste in cards.

As everyone has said, the delinquent Wells Fargo account is holding you back. However, as someone pointed out, the older the account gets, the less impact it has on your credit. Smiley Wink

How much do you owe Wells Fargo? Perhaps you can PFD (Pay for Delete), which means that in exchange for a full payment on the outstanding balance, Wells Fargo will not only notate your account as "Paid" but also remove the account from your credit history. Smiley Wink

Re: Discover Card

How much are you looking to BT, and what's your payoff timeline on the balance?
