Purchase protection is for dissatsified customers and or damaged items from what I understand, and is seperate from price protection.

Okay the check I got from Discover was for an item I bought on Amazon at a certain price but later it dropped and I was reimbursed the difference. Not sure if that’s price protection or purchase protection.
