Jeebus...
Ok I'll stop complaining about my 2500 SL (for now ). But yeah hopefully I don't make the
$ -100- -$500 arkane's "you're asking for a CLI when your statement keeps reporting 0 balance?!" CLD special
because that would be something spectacular(ly bad).
I received a $4000 CLI today on my Discover card after putting a whopping 1 swipe / $5.02 spend through the card last cycle. I guess on my profile spend is irrelevant, so I'll continue to avoid using my Discover card for more than a transaction or two here and there and see if the CLIs keep coming.
It could be worse SJ.. You could be trying to get an HFCU card.....

Had mine about 10 years. Even with good fico and solid profile,
my starting limit was only $1800.
At least the first 2 or 3 were auto cli's; after Balance transfers or paying down balances.
once I started using the love botton, my requests were never denied. The last 2 were both $4000. I stopped asking for more when my cl reached over $16,000.
I've almost always carried balances with them from multiple 0% or low interest BT's thru the years.

Hanscom?
I typically pay a few days before the statement cuts in full. Usually there is a transaction or two that creates a minor balance of like $25-$75 or something like that (and gives me low single digit utilization). The increase happened around 3 days after the statement cut.
I started @ $3,000 about 3 years ago. I requested a increase every 6 months from the website and now i'm sitting @ $36,000. I pay it off every month. I can't get any higher limit than that unless I will allow them to pull my credit. Website doesn't let me request one from them anymore. Last 3 times I tried doing it from the website as a soft pull it keeps telling me in order to process a credit increase they will have to do a hard pull basically.
When I first turned 18 Discover IT was my first CC and I didn't really know how credit cards worked in depth... I started out with a $2k limit and just never spent more than 200 on it every month and PIF and after like 6 months they gave me some measily CLI then I didn't know why or what then I was like huh I wonder if I request an increase. I called and they offered a very small increase and I declined then you have to speak with someone different and I think I asked for $3k total CL and it was fine.. a month ago I asked for CLI from Discover and got auto declined I said wow I wonder why I forgot I hadn't used it in months lol! Discover is a pretty easy process and if declined then oh well... only a SP.
@joltdude wrote:Can try now but go on chat and see if there are any offers on your account... Ask if your eligible for an APR reduction... if that doesnt work.. try again in march... its usually 6 months between reduction requests.... but usually they offer you 1. a temp (meh) 2. a perm (yes), or... another 12 month 0 on NEW purchases.. or.. a BT offer.. (not what your going for right now i presume)....
Iv partaken in both the perm and 0% for 12 mo offers ... they do entertain apr reductions and its not quite as wonky as CLIs...
Usually have to wait for the initial offer to expire on your account or a year... then you can ask every 6 mos =)
