Discover IT??

I did a prescreenig on the Discover IT card...and  they had a offer for me. SO  my question is...What are their typical requirements...ie...scores...baddies...judgements... I have 3 new cards but only 1 reporting atm Fingerhut  CL 700.00   Credit One  CL 500. not reporting yet and a Linen Source CL 250.. not reporting. I do have a secured CC for over a year with CL 1,000.00 with a high utl of 95%  I only have 1 open collection  and I have 2 tax liens. I don't want to app for it just to get denied. But I need some premium cards.

TIA

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

I hope all is well!

Did you do the pre screen online? If so, their pre screen is generic. You can make up a name and a social, and the offer will still come up unfortunately :/

I was approved with a 640 score almost two years ago if that helps. I had no baddies. My score was so low because I was just starting out with credit and went application crazy lol.

Re: Discover IT??

24% interest on a car loan Holy crap! Tell her to go to a credit union they can't charge more than 18%. As for discover it., I would personally recommend the chase freedom card cause u can recon. With discover there is no recon they may offered secured or joint cards but IMO it's not worth it
AMEX PRG NPSL,Lowes $17000,Capital One venture card $12,000,Us Airways mastercard $9500,Fidelity Amex $9000, Discover it $8000, Capital One Venture One $7500, BOA 123 rewards $7500 CSP $6000, Capital One Quicksliver $5500, Amazon Store card$5000,Barclay
Card Ring $5000 Chase Marriott $5000,Chase Hyatt $5000, Sallie Mae Mastercard $4400, Paypal smart connect $4000,Chase Freedom $3200, Capital one Quicksliver visa $3000, Chase IHG Rewards $2300, Chase Southwest Premier $2000, Citi Double Cash $1500, AMEX BCE $1000

Last app July 22nd 2015- No apps for two years.

The Chase Freedom is better because of Recon? lol?  I have both cards and while I wanted a Chase Freedom card and Finally got it Discover is much much much better imo..... Discover has the rotating 5%, Discover shop is much better then Chase UR shop, and Discover deals.  A Secured card isn't a negative considering you get the Deposit back once that card graduates or is Canceled and.

Re: Discover IT??

Discover is conservative with derogs and new accts IMO.  New or no credit applicants have a far more easier chance of approval.  The other issue is like GE, there is no reconning a computer denial.

What exactly is the verbiage you see for your offer?

It's a generic offer. Make up a name and put the SSN as 1234. The same offer shows up.
